June Meeting at Cheyenne Mountain Library

Our June meeting took place at Cheyenne Mountain Library this month! We had a great turnout, and Galen D. and Bailey H. showed us the Ruck back carry along with some variations. For more practice, watch the video below.

May Cloth Diaper Market Meeting

We were so glad to see everyone at this month's Cloth Diaper Market meeting. Thanks to those of you that could make it! We are doing our best to get things organized and have a topic for each meeting. Galen D. showed us a Front Wrap Cross Carry (FWCC). This carry is a great for anyone that might be new to woven wraps. It's also fabulous for nursing and front cuddling a sleepy baby.

May Meeting Dates

Hey BWI Colorado Springs!

On Tuesday, May 6, at 10:00am, we will meet at East Library. Come with your kids, your carriers, and your questions!

Then on Saturday, May 17, at 10:00am, we will have our monthly Cloth Diaper Market meeting. Make sure to mark this Saturday meeting on your calendar if you're not usually able to make a weekday meeting.

April Meeting at Cloth Diaper Market

We are so glad to be able to have monthly meetings at Cloth Diaper Market. It was another great Saturday meeting, and we were glad to see those of you who were able to make it! The group's V.B.E.s (Volunteer Babywearing Educators) are doing their best to make sure all questions get answered. So bring your concerns or frustrations to our next meeting. They're happy to help! 

As promised, there was a drawing when our chapter reached ten members! Laney K. was the winner at the meeting's drawing. Congratulations, Laney! The next drawing will happen when we reach ten more members. If you haven't yet joined our BWI chapter, click here and pay your annual dues of just $30. Your dues pay for us to spread the babywearing love and grow our lending library. Plus, you get to borrow one of those lending library carriers every month for the year of your membership. Thanks so much for supporting BWI Colorado Springs!

April Meeting at Cheyenne Mountain Library

The turnout for this month's meeting at Cheyenne Mountain Library was modest but we had a great time! Because the group was smaller, we spent time helping each other troubleshoot our carries and played with carriers from the lending library. The kids enjoyed each other's company, as well! If you didn't make it out for this meeting, join us on Saturday, April 19th at Cloth Diaper Market for the next one.

March Meeting at Cloth Diaper Market

This month's meeting at Cloth Diaper Market was hip and happening! Thanks to all the mommies (and lots of daddies, too!) that came to make this meeting such a success. With such a large turnout, we hope that everyone's questions were answered. Please feel free to post your questions on the Facebook page!

March Meeting at the East Library

Thank you to all who came out to the East Library location for one of our March meetings! If you couldn't make it, you were missed! We practiced Charlie's Cross Carry (shown in the video below, as demonstrated by our very own Galen D.). This carry can be done with any woven wrap, size 4 or longer.

March Meeting at the Cloth Diaper Market

Our next March meeting is taking place at Cloth Diaper Market, on Saturday, March 22, at 10am! We can't wait to see you all there. Come learn more about a carrier you're thinking of purchasing, learn how to wrap with a woven, or get advice about how to make babywearing work better for your family! Remember: This is a Saturday meeting for all of you who work during the week. We hope you can make it!

February Meeting

Join us in February at the Cheyenne Mountain Library, on Tuesday, February 4th. This meeting is from 10:00am-12:00pm and everyone is welcome to attend. This meeting will be great if you'd like a basic run down of babywearing, different types of carriers and how to best use them. Bring your kids, carriers, and questions. Look forward to seeing you all there!

January Meeting at Cloth Diaper Market

Our most recent meeting at Cloth Diaper Market in Colorado Springs was a hit! Lots of a mamas came by the open house to learn from one another, ask questions and have a great time with the little ones. The lending library was open for everyone to try different sizes of woven wraps or see how they might like a certain soft structured carrier. Thanks to all the ladies that made this Saturday meeting a success! Look for future Saturday meetings in case you're unable to make weekday meetings.

December Meeting

Thank you to those of you that were able brave the snowy weather for our December meeting. For those of you that opted to stay nice and warm at home with your little ones, no worries! You can try out this month's carry with the video below. "Christina's Ruckless Back Carry," demonstrated by Jillian D. at the meeting, can be used with a size 4, 5, or 6 woven wrap.

November Meeting

Lauren B. has stepped up as a contributor for our group blog.  We look forward to more of her posts!  She sums up the meeting below.   

November was another successful meeting with plenty of new faces in attendance!  It's so great to see people coming to learn how to make babywearing work for them! This month's carry is the Double Hammock back carry, typically used with a size 5, 6, or 7 woven wrap. Jillian D. demonstrated and a few experienced wrappers helped other members practice with their little ones.  If you were unable to make the meeting (or if you're just looking to get some more practice), check out the video below:

Some members also brought along a few ideas for wearing baby while in the winter weather. Babywearing jackets, fleece ponchos, or even just an oversized coat already in your closet will do the trick! These items can simply be worn over you and baby while using your favorite carrier.

November Meeting

Our monthly meeting will be taking place the 6th of November, starting at 10:30 at the Casa Verde Common House.  The Carry of the Month is the Double Hammock.  We will be discussing babywearing in cold weather.  If you own a babywearing coat, it would be great if you brought it along so other group members can see how they work!  

If you plan on borrowing a carrier from our lending library, please take the time to read our Lending Library policy.

October Meeting

(I, Paula, was unable to attend this month, but the lovely Nicole R. took great photos of the meeting.  I heard there were a lot of brand new faces and we welcome you to the group and hope you had a great first meeting experience!  For those of you who missed it, October's Carry of the Month is the Rebozo.  The video below is a great place to start.  While it's geared toward newborns, the carry is older baby-/toddler-friendly as well!  We also implemented new rules for the lending library, which can be read about here.)

9/4 Monthly Meeting

The Carry of the Month this week was the Half-Jordan's Back Carry as demonstrated by Galen Duffy.  Those who missed the meeting or need a refresher can check out this awesome YouTube video made by Galen herself:




Our discussion this month was on exploring how to fundraise or come up with money in order to buy more carriers for our lending library!  One possibility is to charge a ca little big of money to rent a carrier.  We're still brainstorming, so anyone who has some creative ideas should post them on our facebook!

September Meeting

Our monthly meeting will be taking place the 4th of September, starting at 10:30 at the Casa Verde Common House.  Galen D. will be demoing our Carry of the Month, the half-Jordan's Back Carry with a Candy Cane Chest Belt.  We will also be discussing ideas on how to fund-raise so we can buy more carriers for our lending library.

8/7 Monthly Meeting

Our month's meeting was held at the Casa Verde Commons House, with the Carry of the Month being Wendy's Double Hammock, as demonstrated by member Cora K. and her toddler daughter!  It was an awesome turn out and we hope everyone had a great time.
